Our farm is an essential part of the Locu Sala experience — a true countryside retreat in Latgale. Over the years, we have cared for many animals, but today our main residents are sheep.
We invite you to visit our farm in Latvia: meet the animals, feed them, and take memorable photos — a perfect activity for families and nature lovers.
We raise purebred Latvian black-headed sheep, an ancient local breed. Lambs come from eco farms, and their feed is carefully prepared on-site using grains from a bio farm, including barley, oats, wheat, and peas. Fresh pastures are rotated weekly to ensure low-stress, natural living conditions.
This approach results in high-quality, tender, and flavourful lamb. Guests can also purchase fresh lamb meat directly from our farm.
TAKE HOME OUR NATURAL FARM HONEY
Locu Sala is home to several colonies of Italian bees, producing natural honey as part of our eco farm in Latvia. The first harvest begins as early as June, with up to four collections each season.
What started as a small hobby has grown into a yearly yield of 120–150 liters, depending on the weather. Beyond honey, our bees play an important role in pollinating the surrounding meadows, gardens, and forests.
We share this natural honey with our guests, friends, and partners — a small, authentic taste of life at Locu Sala.
Locu Sala produces 100% pure honey in the clean, eco-friendly environment of our nature park in Latvia. Its rich floral aroma comes from a diverse mix of local plants — including linden, willow, maple, raspberry, thistle, and wildflowers unique to the Latgale region.
Our honey is carefully harvested in small batches and, along with other farm products, is available to guests when in stock. Enjoy a natural taste of Locu Sala — simple, pure, and full of character.

FAQ
CAN I BRING MY PET ALONG?
Absolutely! We love pets and we think the want to get some time off, too! Although, we do not allow pets on the beds or sofas. If there are other guests on the territory dogs must walk on a leash for security reasons. On your arrival we take 150€ deposit per pet, which will be returned on the check-out day after the house review.
IS THE TAP WATER DRINKABLE?
Only in "Jumis" house. In the rest of our houses tap water can only be consumed after boiling.
So please, consider bringing your own bottled water.
IS IT POSSIBLE TO BOOK SEVERAL HOUSES AT ONCE?
Of course! It is also possible to book the whole complex just for your group :) Maximum capacity of all of our 5 houses is 50 guests. Please let us know your needs and we will advice which houses will suit you best!
WHAT ARE THE CHECK-IN AND CHECK-OUT HOURS?
Our standard check-in hours are 14:00 - 20:00, and check-out is until 12:00. Please let us know if you'd like to request an early or late check-in or a late check-out. It is possible depending on the occupancy of the houses.
DO YOU HAVE GRILL TOOLS (SKEWERS, GRATE, COAL)?
We do provide our guests with skewers, grill grate and firewood. In case you would like to use coal, you’d have to bring it along.
HOW CLOSE ARE HOUSES LOCATED TO EACH OTHER?
Houses “Skujiņa” and “Ūsiņa” stand next to each other, and the big house “Māras Krusts” is located nearby, about 20 metres away. The biggest house “Jumis” stands on the hill in the middle of the tourist camp. It is about 60 metres away from other houses on both sides. The farthest is sauna house “Krupītis”, which is located about 160 metres away from the first three.
WE ARRIVED. HOW DO WE PROCEED WITH CHECK-IN?
We usually practice self-check in. Your house is ready and open, whereas the keys will be inside. Don't worry, our territory is super safe and you won't get lost - There are signs that will guide you on the road, as well as signs on each house with a personal house name.
